Age Groups

Babies – 3 Year Olds
Our Babies through Age 3 classroom is much more than a nursery. It is a warm, safe environment where children first hear the truth of who God is. Following the Foundations section of our Family Discipleship Plan, every week focuses on two simple, powerful concepts: God is and God gives.

Through familiar songs, repetition, prayer, and consistent care, our leaders look for every opportunity to share these truths. Whether your child is learning that God is strong, God is loving, or God gives good gifts, we use these early moments to help them know and trust Him. We believe God is already at work in these young lives, planting seeds of faith that will grow for years to come.
4 Year Olds – Kindergarten
In our 4s and Kindergarten classroom, we build on what the kids have already learned about God's character. Using the Foundations curriculum, we continue focusing on the core truths that God is and God gives, but we begin exploring what those truths mean in everyday life.

Our leaders use engaging lessons, simple scripture memorization, music, and group time to help kids connect God’s character to the world around them. Together, we look at how God is faithful, how He is good, and how He gives us everything we need. Our goal during these years is to help kids move from just hearing these concepts to really understanding and believing them.
1st – 2nd Grade
Our 1st and 2nd grade classroom helps kids connect the foundational truths they know to the bigger story of the Bible. While we still ground every lesson in who God is and what He has done, we now show kids how those truths weave through the entire narrative of Scripture.

Through interactive teaching, Scripture memory, worship, and small group discussions, kids do more than just listen to a story. They start to see how the Bible fits together as one unified account of God’s love and His plan to rescue us. These years are all about helping kids see the big picture of God's Word, memorizing Scripture, and growing in their love for Him.
3rd – 5th Grade
Our 3rd through 5th grade classroom focuses on helping kids connect what they believe with how they live. Building on our Family Discipleship Plan, students continue to study the overarching story of the Bible, gaining a clearer understanding of God’s character and His plan to rescue us.

Through focused teaching, Scripture memory, worship, and group discussions, we challenge kids to apply biblical truth to their everyday lives, including their families, school, and friendships. We welcome their questions and encourage them to read God's Word on their own so they can take personal ownership of their faith.

Community is a major focus in this room. Kids learn what it means to be part of the church, support one another, and grow alongside their peers. These years are all about helping students build a lasting faith, preparing them to enter youth ministry with confidence and a strong biblical foundation.

FAQ

Can my children join me in the main worship service?
Absolutely! We love having families worship together and believe it’s a vital part of helping kids integrate into the whole body of Christ.

If your child will be joining you in the service, feel free to grab a "Worship Clipboard" at the entrance, filled with activity pages and crayons to help them engage during the message.
What is your check-in and pick-up security process?
Security is a top priority. When you check in, both you and your child will receive matching identification stickers. Your child’s sticker must be worn at all times, and you must present your matching tag to a leader before your child can be released to you at the end of service.
How do you handle allergies or specific medical needs?
We want every child to feel right at home! Please let us know about any allergies or specific needs during check-in. Our team is dedicated to creating a space where every child can thrive, and we will work closely with you to make any necessary accommodations.

If your child needs you during the service, our Kids Ministry Director will personally come and find you.
Do you have a program for children with special needs?
Yes! We believe every child is created in the image of God and belongs here. We would love to get to know your family’s specific situation so we can be fully prepared for your first visit. Click here to learn more about our heart for special needs ministry and how we can support your child.
How can I get involved and serve in Overland Kids?
We would love to have you on the team! Our ministry thrives because of volunteers who are passionate about the next generation. To ensure a safe environment, all our volunteers go through an onboarding process and background check.

You can start the application process by completing our Serve Form here.
Discipleship doesn't just happen on Sundays—it happens in the rhythm of everyday life.

We use the Family Discipleship Plan (FDP) to help you lead your home with confidence and intentionality. This framework is designed to meet your child exactly where they are, providing age-appropriate guides that help you navigate big conversations and teach God’s truths from preschool all the way through high school.

Family Discipleship
Milestones

Family Dedication
Family Dedication at Overland Church is a meaningful moment where parents publicly commit to raise their child in the ways of Jesus, and our church family commits to support them in that journey. It is not a salvation ceremony, but a declaration of dependence on God’s grace and a shared desire to see children grow to know and follow Christ.
Kindergarten Blessing
Our Kindergarten Blessing is a special moment where we pause to celebrate and pray over our kindergarten graduates as they step into a new season of learning and growth. This event is designed to remind kids that they are known, loved, and created by God for a purpose.

Through prayer, encouragement, and a church-wide blessing, we ask the Lord to guide their steps, strengthen their faith, and surround them with His truth as they begin their elementary years. It’s also a meaningful time for families and our church community to come together, committing to support and point these children to Jesus as they grow.
